This dashing gentleman is Sidney Elson Tivey, 1877-1962.

Sidney was born in Melbourne, Derbyshire to parents Tom Tivey and Louisa Elson.

He worked in the Shoe trade at the Tivey & Andrews Shoe Factory, as did many others in Melbourne; In 1911 he is residing at North Street in Melbourne, the factory was situated in South Street.

He married Elizabeth Hannah Houghton in 1901 and had 2 children, Jessica Houghton Tivey and Edna Mabel Tivey.

Sidney, like many other brave souls, served his country in the Great War (1914-1918) signing up to serve on the 2nd December 1915;
