Emma
was a servant in the household of Miss Tomlinson mentioned in the portraits.
She was Hannah Tomlinson, a spinster who inherited her father David’s farm
and lived off its means. Hannah was the daughter of David Tomlinson and
Hannah Webster.
Mrs Earp of the Church of the Church House Melbourne was Ann Harriet (nee
Bowles) Earp wife of Henry Webster Earp. Henry Webster Earp was the son of
John Earp and Mary Tomlinson. Mary was the sister of Hannah who Emma served
most of her life and who’s portrait she bequeathed.
Dr Arnold Ingle was the son of Selina Earp and Robert Nicholas Ingle. Selina
is the daughter of John Earp and Mary Tomlinson sister of Hannah as
aforementioned.
Arnold was Emma’s brother born 1839 in Melbourne shortly before his father
Thomas’ death in 1841. His mother Mary (Nee Wilmott) remarried to John Pass
in 1843.
Emma Hollingworth was the daughter of Emma’s half sister Elizabeth (Bessie)
Pass. Elizabeth was the daughter of John Pass, 2nd husband of Mary Tivey
(nee Wilmott~ the widow of Thomas Tivey). Elizabeth married Robert Webster
in 1867 and Emma was born in 1867, their only child. Emma married John
Hollingworth of Derby in Pancras London, 1889.
Annie Pass- not traced as yet
Fanny Kinsey was the daughter of Arthur Pass, Emma’s half brother (see note
8) Fanny Pass was born abt 1873 in Melbourne and married John Kinsey in
1890.
Mary Ann Smith refers to Emma’s half brother Arthur’s child. Arthur was born
to Mary Pass (Nee Tivey, Nee Wilmott ~ Emma’s mother) and John Earp in 1852.
He married his first wife Eliza Smith in 1872. Mary Ann Pass was born abt
1873 Melbourne. She married Thomas Smith in 1896.
Emma Foster was the daughter of Emma’s half brother Arthur (see note 8) Emma
Pass was born abt 1878 Melbourne and married William Foster in 1897.
Bessie Webster was Emma’s half sister. She was the daughter of Mary Pass
(Nee Tivey Nee Wilmott ~ Emma’s mother) and John Earp and was born abt 1848
in Melbourne. She was baptised Elizabeth Pass but was known as Bessie. In
1867 she married Robert Webster and had one child that survived infancy ~
Emma in 1869.
Jeffrey Pass- not traced as yet, but could be either her half brother born
1845 Melbourne or her nephew, son of Arthur (see note 8)
Samuel Pass was the half brother of Emma, being the eldest son of her mother
Mary (Nee Tivey Nee Wilmott) and her second husband John Pass. Samuel
married Mary Amanda Moll and had 11 children, 4 of them being daughters Ada
(c) 1878 Alice (c) 1880 Mary (c) 1883 and Agnes (c) 1885. He died in 1890.
