I have been asked several times to provide a few details of myself so as not to remain so mysterious !
My name is Janet Ann Tivey ~ Jan to most and I much prefer it! I am 40 years old, work in administration and reside in Old Lancashire (now Cheshire) , along with my husband Michael and two beautiful children.
Our Tivey's originate in the late 1500's in the agricultural villages of Worthington/ Newbold in Leicestershire, moving on to Melbourne Derbyshire, then back to farming in the villages of Staunton Harold, Worthington and Derby Hills. Great Great Grandfather Joseph Tivey then moved to the more industrious town of Burton on Trent, Staffordshire bringing up his family there, whilst his son William, a postman, chose to move up North to Manchester and here is where we stayed (or there abouts!)
I started this project in June 2005 and have spent many hours discovering all about the Tivey families from all over the world after being bitten by the genealogy bug. I have made many friends along the way and shared many funny,amazing and touching stories about Tivey's families.
There is much more to come along the trails of our family history and more and more old parish documents are being found regularly, so fingers crossed we can link them all up one day......
I am always on the look out for photographs, old documents (of deceased Tivey's) grave photgraphs, certificates, antiquities, letterheads, company information, newspaper articles ~ just about anything that bears the Tivey name.
