Description: On the 8th January 1912 Alfred was described as being 5 feet and 5 inches tall and of slight build with a chest measurement of 35.5 inches with 2 inch expansion. His vision and physical fitness were described as 'Good'. he was discharged from the Territorial Force after refusing to sign under the 1916 Military Service Act. He went on to have three children with his second wife ~ Martha, Sydney and Ernest.

His Brothers Leonard Noble Tivey and Edgar Henry Tivey were not  so lucky and were both killed in action. If you would like to see Alfred's discharge papers please contact me.

 

Alfred William Tivey 1882 -1949

Alfred William   Tivey  was the son of George  Tivey  and  Martha Fitchett of Kings Newton near Melbourne Derbyshire. He married three times ~ 1. Elizabeth Ford 2. Maria Taylor and 3. Clara Adams (Nee Walton) He was one of three of George & Martha's son that served in WWI ~ Alfred was the only one that survived.
