Sarah-Boyer-William-Tivey-Bastardy-Order

Know all Men by these Present - THIS COURT upon the Oath of Sarah Boyer  doth declare and adjudge William Tivey of Markfield in the said County of Leicester Putative father of a female bastard child begotten of the Body of the said Sarah Boyer and lately born in and now chargeable to the Parish of Markfield in the said County of Leicester  and doth order that the said William Tivey do and shall weekly and every week pay  to the Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Markfield aforesaid for the time being two shillings  towards the maintenance of the said Bastard Child for so long as the same shall be chargeable to the said Parish of Markfield and that the said Sarah Boyer do and shall weekly and every week pay the Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Markfield aforesaid for the time being sixpence towards the maintenance of the said Bastatrd Child for as long as the same shall be chargeable to the said Parish of Markfield.

This oath was made at the Leicester Quarter Sessions, Dated 23 April 1795 (Translation)

**FURTHER NOTES:
William Tivey was buried in Cropston in 1807. 13th September 1779 he married Elizabeth Kellam in Markfield, she died in 1793. Sarah Boyer had already given birth to a base-born child a year earlier and is mentioned in the quarter sessions bastardy books 22nd December 1794, the father being named as Edward Hassar of Ulverscroft and Bond surety was signed by Sarah's father Samuel Boyer.
Sarah and William married in Markfield 19th October 1797 and had 3 known children in Wedlock - George Tivey born 1798 died shortly after birth. The middle child Mary Tivey was born 1805 in Cropston, she married Henry Stretton 1827 in Thurcaston. Their youngest child was Sarah Tivey born 1807 in Thurcaston, no further information on her. After William's death in 1807 Sarah remarried to a widower Thomas Willimot in 1816 Thurcaston.
