This photo was taken in the 1960's and features William Tivey (1872-1972). 

It was taken in his back garden at Tootal Drive in Salford, Lancashire.

William was my husband's great grandfather and was born in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire.

In his youth he became a letter carrier for the Post Office - the reason we think he lived to nearly 100 !

He was also a major player in the formation of the first trade unions and the Labour Party in Manchester.
